Future in the past

The conditional can describe what someone said would happen: Dijo que vendría.

Spanish conditional endings

Add the same endings to the full infinitive.

Irregular conditional stems

Some verbs use irregular stems before the regular conditional endings: tendr-, vendr-, podr-, har-, dir-, querr-, and sabr-.

Conditional sentences with si

Use si + present + future for real possibilities: Si tengo tiempo, estudiaré. Use si + imperfect subjunctive + conditional for hypothetical situations: Si tuviera tiempo, estudiaría.

The conditional perfect

The conditional perfect uses habría + participle: Habría estudiado means "I would have studied."
